Bangkok Thailand – Bangkok is a must stop over if your heading to the Thai islands. This was our second time around in Bangkok, and this time we where sure not to miss out on the floating market.
This large and popular floating market is about 100 km southwest of Bangkok in Ratchaburi province. This vibrant market featuring many small boats laden with colourful fruits and vegetables and paddled by Thai women wearing bamboo hats.
The Market is crowded with hundreds of vendors and purchasers floating in their small rowing boats selling and buying products and local food, which are mostly brought from their own nearby orchards. This would be the traditional way of selling and buying goods.
We where staying in Khao San Road in Bangkok, this is the best place to stay if you want to experience the busy night live. The popular book ‘The Beach’ famously described Khao San Road as “the centre of the backpacking universe”. Packed into a 1km long strip are countless budget guesthouses and mid-range hotels, internet cafes, swanky bars and clubs, restaurants, massage parlours, travel agents, bookshops, market stalls, tattoo shops and much, much more.
