LOCI is a Dubai based design studio driven by the locality of design. LOCI aims to bring forward a strong local identity to inform its design process. A culturally driven design studio that believes in the gravitas of a context and the power of the locus to inform its design process and product.

“The offices were conceived as a pure response to the client brief, incorporating the main program functions along the facade, maximizing natural light, and filtering that light into the circulation zone around the central wood clad core. Bespoke minimal bronze aluminium framed glass partitions, enclose the office and meeting rooms but allow views and light to penetrate through to the interior, an elegantly distinct and clear separation between private and public space.

The materiality sought to achieve the clients desire for lightness, in particular the bespoke ceiling, which was designed by Loci and produced in Italy for the project, composed of integrated LED lighting panels which diffuses artificial light through a champagne bronze aluminum mesh, a unique feature of the project. The panels are fully removable for ceiling services access, integrating MEP services, HVAC, general and task lighting and fire services in an elegant and functional design, carefully detailed and installed to achieve a high degree of accuracy with tolerances of 2mm to align joints of floor, wall and ceiling.

The timelessly minimal interior design sought contextually in the use of white oak joinery elements which subdivide the floor plan, concealing the building structure and containing functional services and storage. Light colored book-matched teak wood stone floors throughout create a homogenous and light space. Mature indoor plants and art works by
local artists are natural and colorful additions to the minimal aesthetic.

Contemporary crafted wood, glass and marble furniture pieces, sand colored rugs and Italian designer loose furniture combine to create a minimally elegant and luxurious interior space.”
