Rooted in the founder’s Scandinavian upbringing and crafted by skilled artisans using traditional techniques and natural materials, each piece is thoughtfully made to bring warmth, balance, and enduring beauty to contemporary interiors.

Foundations marks the beginning of Rugia — a series of six collections created to bring balance and character to the contemporary home. Designed in harmony, each collection explores texture, form, and colour in its own distinctive way. Together, they reflect Rugia’s devotion to craftsmanship, simplicity, and enduring beauty.

Each Rugia piece is handwoven by skilled artisans using traditional techniques passed down through generations of makers. Crafted in Bhadohi, India, a region renowned for its rug-making heritage, every rug is created with meticulous care using the finest New Zealand wool.

From the first thread to the final weave, the process reflects patience, mastery and devotion to detail, resulting in a rug of enduring quality and quiet elegance. Our collections include hand-knotted, hand-loomed and flatwoven rugs, each technique imparting its own distinct character and beauty.
